MSU Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) has provided academic opportunities to gifted middle and high school students for 30 years. In partnership with local school districts and MSU academic departments, GATE programs provide curricula designed for academically gifted pre-college students.
Academic year programming is available to high achieving students for high school credit. The CHAMP program provides an accelerated math course for students in grades 7-10, while the ISHALL program provides an advanced English Language Arts program for grades 7-10. The LEAF program is for students interested in pursuing an accelerated French Language course.
The MST summer camp is geared toward middle school students who excel in the fields of math, science, and technology, while the CSI camp is for those interested in forensic science. GATE's newest program is Future DOcs, in partnership with MSU Ostepathic Medicine, which introduces middle school students to the medical field and health care professions.
