Supporting Our Nation’s Brightest Young People
The Davidson Institute for Talent Development is a national nonprofit dedicated to supporting profoundly gifted students 18 and under through these programs:
* Davidson Young Scholars
Free support services, including academic support, advocacy, social emotional resources, talent development, early college and peer connections for profoundly gifted young people between the ages of 5 and 17, and their parents. Young Scholars and their parents can also access our online community, annual conference and a summer camp for 8 to 12 year olds.
* Davidson Fellows Scholarships
$50,000, $25,000 and $10,000 scholarships for students 18 and under who have completed graduate-level work. Application categories are Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Literature, Music, Philosophy and Outside the Box. Davidson Fellows are honored every year in Washington, D.C. at a special reception.
* Davidson Academy
Designed to be different, the Academy is a middle and high school for profoundly gifted students offering an education matched to a student's abilities, not their age. The Davidson Academy offers two educational options – an online school for those living anywhere in the U.S. that starts with the eighth grade, and a day school on the University of Nevada, Reno campus for local middle and high school students. Both options are centered on a rigorous academic environment where students learn at an accelerated pace and interact with intellectual peers.
* THINK Summer Institute
A three-week residential summer academic program in Reno, Nevada where 13- to 16-year-old exceptionally gifted students take two college courses and can earn college credits. In addition to the full-immersion academic experience, students participate in a variety of on-campus activities as well as field trips around the Reno-Lake Tahoe area.
* Educators Guild
A free national service for elementary, secondary and post-secondary educators, as well as other professionals committed to meeting the unique needs of highly gifted students.
* Davidson Gifted Database
A gateway to resources for and about gifted young people with easy search capabilities for articles, resources and state policy pages to help students, parents and educators pinpoint information.
Davidson Academy has proven time after time to be an excellent resource; my daughter would love to attend. Davidson has always had advocacy resources available to us. The quality of their programs is self evident.
