Stanford Pre-Collegiate Studies offers sixteen programs designed to meet the needs of academically talented and gifted middle school and high school students from around the world. Our programs are available online and in-person, during the summer and academic year, and feature broad exploration or intense study in a single subject. Stanford Pre-Collegiate students are intellectually adventurous, highly motivated, and passionate in their desire to come together and deepen their learning. With participation from every state and over 60 countries, our programs draw from the best and the brightest around the world.
•Stanford Online High School, an accredited independent school for 7-12 graders, creates a worldwide learning community of diverse, intellectually passionate students and teachers. Through vibrant, synchronous, online seminars, the rigorous curriculum challenge students to reason analytically, think creatively and argue persuasively. Beyond the classroom, collaborative extra-curricular activities cultivate lasting relationships. The School’s supportive environment fosters independence, strength of character and a lifelong pursuit of knowledge;
•Stanford High School Summer College, where high-achieving, college-ready students ages 16-19 enroll as visiting undergraduates during the Summer Quarter at Stanford, taking the same courses as Stanford students and learning from Stanford faculty. Our students choose among 145 Stanford University courses and earn Stanford University credit;
•Stanford Pre-Collegiate Summer Institutes, where middle school and high school students discover, explore, and study their favorite subjects under the guidance of expert instructors in a setting with peers from around the world who share talents and interests;
•Stanford Summer Humanities Institute, a 3-week residential program for rising high school juniors and seniors, that explores the big questions at the heart of the humanities in seminars led by distinguished Stanford professors.
•Stanford Youth Orchestra, a three-week intensive orchestral and academic program for talented young musicians from around the world.
•Stanford University Mathematics Camp [SUMaC], welcomes an elite group of talented rising high school juniors and seniors from around the work for intensive study in advanced mathematics.
•University-Level Online Math & Physics, offers 13 courses for accelerated high school students and earn Stanford University Continuing Studies credit. Our online courses allow students to work through challenging material at their own pace during a term. Students have access instructor support during live, real-time office hours.
•Stanford Summer College Academy, where students ages 16-19 take one intensive undergraduate-level course, approximately half of which is in Stanford Online High School’s signature online real-time seminar meetings, and three weeks of which is completed in residence on Stanford’s campus. These courses carry Stanford University Continuing Studies credit.
